I've been working on replacing the capacitors in my old Dragon's Lair Electrohome G07 arcade monitor.
I finished my soldering work and put my monitor back into my Dragon's Lair. The good news is that nothing blew up when I powered it on. The bad news is that it only displays a single (bright) horizontal line in the middle of the screen:
Anyone know where I can go from here to troubleshoot?
Not sure if you already saw this, but it gives some good tips. Maybe that is what Warren was talking to you about in IRC today... not sure.

The first thing you should check is your vertical defection coil wires. Make sure that they weren't broken anywhere when you pull out or put back in the Monitor. Make sure that you put the defection coil connector back on the Monitor Board, correctly. The connector fully on the posts, where they go. You might have a bad Vertical Transistor or broken trace on that circuit. There are two Vertical Transistors on the Monitor Board. You need to use a Multimeter and take the Transistors out of the circuit to test them properly. If one is bad, it's better to replace both at once. After this troubleshooting gets much more technical. Hope this helps.
ReplyDeleteYou now have the borken joystick arcade matto
ReplyDeleteMatto, also make sure you plugged the yoke wires in all the way and check for cracked solder joints at that plug.
DeleteThanks for the comments, guys. I am out of town right now but I hope to get back to this in a few weeks. I really want my son to be able to play Dragon's Lair!
